A message from the Elon Public Works Department:

As of right now, DPW has been attempting to remove what snow/ice we can off of main roads and will move to high-priority secondary roads and finally into neighborhoods as we are able. Staff is making better headway on roads less traveled as roads with more traffic have been packed down making it harder to remove.

We will continue our efforts as long as we are making any headway, then we will salt main roads hazardous hills, curves, and intersections to assist with traction and melting if and when temperatures get above freezing.

DPW staff will assess conditions in the morning and likely return to clean more once it is above freezing. Continue to stay home unless travel is necessary and if you do have to go out please drive carefully.
