Elon Connect

On Tuesday, March 23rd, Governor Cooper issued Executive Order 204, which will begin today Friday, March 26th at 5PM. The Executive Order increases the capacity in many businesses including retail shops, hair salons, and restaurants. The ban on sales of alcohol after 11PM has been lifted. Additionally, the executive order allows for the playgrounds at Beth Schmidt Park and Lawrence Slade Park to fully reopen. Masks and social distancing are still required when out in public. Inside restaurants, masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking. Within the Town of Elon, mass gathering limits will increase to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors.

We encourage everyone to get their vaccination. You can find locations and information about the vaccine at You have a spot. Take Your shot on the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services website.

The Elon Fire Department will be testing the fire hydrants throughout the Town of Elon beginning the week of April 5th. As you may have experienced in the past, testing can sometimes cause a temporary discoloration of water in nearby homes. The discoloration is not harmful in any way and can be cleared up by running the water for a few minutes. If you have questions about fire hydrant testing, please contact the Elon Fire Department at 336.584.9190. More detailed information can be found here.

You can find a copy of the Executive Order on the COVID-19 Information page of the Town’s website at www.townofelon.com.
