Elon, NC (August 12, 2020) – Starting Monday, August 17, 2020, the Elon Police department will begin towing vehicles found in violation of parking regulations and that have more than one unpaid parking ticket associated with the vehicle. The implementation of this policy is in response to a long-standing issue of parking tickets that have gone unpaid.
“With a largely transient population, collecting on the unpaid violations has been extremely difficult. While we prefer that the traffic and parking regulations be followed, we realize that having the ability to tow frequent violators is necessary and hopefully will compel others to follow the rules.” stated Chief Blackwelder.
Implementation of the towing enforcement policy will begin at 8am on Monday, August 17, 2020. The towing policy applies throughout the entirety of the Town of Elon.
