It is with the saddest regret we announce the passing of Captain Lester Jessup, on October 29th, 2020 in Burlington, North Carolina.
Captain Jessup served Elon Fire Department for 36 years. During this time, Captain Jessup rose through the ranks while providing the department with outstanding leadership. With the passing of Captain Jessup, the Elon Fire Department isn’t just losing a member of their department, it is losing a monumental part of this community, someone that put so much heart and soul into his calling.
In honor of his passing and his service to the community, Mayor Jerry Tolley has ordered flags to be flown at half staff from the morning of Tuesday, November 3 through the morning of Friday, November 6.
