Fire Hydrant Testing Monday April 6 - July 24 2020

The Elon Fire Department continues to conduct the annual fire hydrant testing, which began Monday, April 1 and will continues through  Friday, July 24.  Below are the areas where they will be conducting testing and the completed sections. Hydrant testing, which requires a flushing of water through the system, can cause discolored water. Please be advised that the Public Works team is working with the Fire Department to ensure that the system is flushed and the water discoloration is removed as quickly as possible. The water coming from your tap is not contaminated and is safe to drink.

Zone 1 – April 6th – April 17th – (Northwest of Railroad Tracks) – N. Williamson, W. Lebanon, W. Haggard, N. Manning, Elon Ossipee Rd, and sub divisions off of these roads. (COMPLETED)
Zone 2 – April 20th – May 1st – (Northeast of  Railroad Tracks) – E. Lebanon,E. Haggard, Shallowford,  E. Phoenix, Bill Loy Dr,  Powerline Rd, and sub divisions off of these roads. (COMPLETED)
Zone 3 – May 4th – May 15th – (Southwest of Railroad Tracks) –  S. Williamson, E. Trollinger, Ballpark, Westbrook, Westgate, Forrestview,  and sub divisions off of these roads. (ONGOING)
Zone 4 – May 18th – May 29th (Southeast  of Railroad Tracks) –  S. Williamson, W. Trollinger, Orange Dr., Georgetown, Mill Pointe, and Jamestowne Dr.
Zone 5 – June 1st – June 12th  (Ashley Woods)
Zone 6 – June 15th – June 26th ( Twin Lakes )
Zone 7 – June 29th – July 10th ( Rural district south of Hwy 70) – S. Church St, Williams Mill, Rural Retreat, University Dr, and off of Huffman Mill Rd ( Whitesell Dr and Inge Dr )
Zone 8 – July 13th – July 24th  ( Hwy 87, Durham St, and Glen Raven ) – MacArthur Ln,  Hwy 87, Durham St, Webb Ave, Flora Ave, and sub divisions off of these roads.
