We are pleased to announce the promotion of Lieutenant J.T Turney to Assistant Chief over Operations for the Elon Police Department. Assistant Chief Turney has been with Elon Police since 2011. During his service with the department, he has been a Master Police Officer, Field Trainer, K9 officer, Narcotics officer on Alamance Narcotic Enforcement Team (ANET), and worked in Criminal Investigations. He most recently served as Administrative Lieutenant. Prior to his work in Elon, he was a patrol officer with the Chapel Hill Police Department for four (4) years and was honorably discharged from the Navy.
Assistant Chief Turney completed his Associates Degree at Alamance Community College with a degree in Management and received his Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina this past May. He was promoted August 10th and will work in tandem with James Perry, who is currently the Assistant Chief of the Administrative Division.
