Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, and National Police Week were established in 1962 under President John F. Kennedy. This year National Police Week will occur from May 12 -May 18. On April 9th, the Board of Aldermen issued a proclamation requesting that everyone join in commemorating law enforcement officers, past and present, who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities have rendered a dedicated service to their communities.
