The Downtown Elon Advisory Board unanimously nominated the Town of Elon Public Works Department as their 2018 Main Street Champions due to their support and excellent service to the downtown district. The North Carolina Department of Commerce awarded the team at the Champions Breakfast during the 2019 North Carolina Main Street Conference held in Salisbury.
“The Public Works team has been a driving force in making significant changes in downtown. Whether it is setting up for an event, fabricating a parklet, or stringing new lights on the Downtown Christmas tree, this team gets the job done with laughter and support for the efforts we are making in downtown. I cannot fully express the appreciation we all have for their assistance and support. They are truly a shining example of a Main Street Champion.” says Clark Bennett, Chair of the Downtown Elon Advisory Board.
The Town of Elon became a Main Street Community in July of 2018 and the Public Works department are their first Main Street Champions.
