Contractors for Elon University will close a portion of North O’Kelly Avenue from University Drive to Phoenix Drive on Friday, February 1 from 8:15 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for water line work at the hotel construction site. The work will involve cutting out a section of N. O’Kelly Avenue to create a tie-in for the new water lines being constructed to supply their project site. The road will be reduced to one lane of traffic traveling southbound from University Drive to the traffic circle in the morning to accommodate traffic to Elon Elementary School. This section of N. O’Kelly will be closed in full after 8:15 a.m. until it reopens at 6:00 p.m. Elon Elementary School parents are advised to use Haggard Avenue in the afternoon to pick up their children.
