Updated Press Release from Elon Police Department

Elon, NC (February7, 2020) On February 5, 2020 at 0906hrs Elon Police officers were dispatched to 206 Pinedale in reference to shooting. Elon Police Officers located two victims inside the home; one female and one male victim. Both were rushed to the hospital for treatment but the male succumbed to his wounds on the way.

We were able to identify the shooter as Barry “BJ” Eugene Campbell, 12/2/1996. Mr. Campbell was a resident of 206 Pinedale Drive for several years. This incident is domestic related as Campbell and the female victim had been in a dating relationship. The female victim ended the relationship the night before the shooting. Mr. Campbell left the home the morning of February 5th and returned a short time later shooting both his ex-girlfriend and her friend who was at the home.

The Elon Police Department believes this is an isolated incident, and was not a random act of violence. We are actively seeking Barry Campbell and are asking the public for their help. He is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you have information please contact the Elon Police Department 336-584-1301 or Crime Stoppers 336-229-7100. As always you may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a CASH REWARD if your information helps aid Police in taking Campbell into custody. If you see recognize Barry Campbell out in public do not approach him, keep a safe distance and dial 911. We know Campbell has ties to Greensboro and Guilford County.
